Unit Converter
Convert length, weight, temperature, volume, area and speed between metric and imperial units.
What is it?
A unit converter is a small calculator that translates a measurement from one unit to another, for example kilometers to miles or Celsius to Fahrenheit. Our converter covers the six categories used most often in daily life and at work: length (mm, cm, m, km, in, ft, yd, mi), weight (mg, g, kg, t, oz, lb, st), temperature (°C, °F, K), volume (ml, l, m³, fl oz, cup, pt, qt, gal), area (cm², m², ha, km², ft², ac, mi²) and speed (m/s, km/h, mph, kn). Conversions use the exact factors defined by the International System of Units, with rational rounding so results stay readable. Everything happens locally; we never send your numbers to a server.
How to use it
- Pick the category you need (length, weight, temperature, volume, area, speed).
- Type the value into the source field — the converter accepts decimals and scientific notation.
- Choose the source unit; the target unit defaults to the most common counterpart.
- Read the result: the converted value updates as you type.
- Use the swap button to invert the conversion or the copy button to grab the result.
Why use this tool
Unit conversions are a constant friction point: cooking from a foreign recipe, planning a road trip across a border, comparing parcel weights or shipping volumes, sizing a piece of furniture or a running pace. A reliable converter saves time and prevents costly mistakes — a missed pound-to-kilogram conversion can ruin a flight booking, a wrong inch-to-millimeter calculation can ruin a shelf. Our tool is built around real use cases: instant feedback as you type, sensible default pairs (Celsius/Fahrenheit, kilometers/miles), full keyboard support and large readable digits. Because it runs in the browser, it works offline once loaded; useful when you are on a plane, in a basement workshop or on bad mobile coverage. We use the official conversion factors so results match scientific and engineering standards. No tracking, no account.
Frequently asked questions
Are the conversion factors accurate?
Yes. We use the official SI definitions; for example exactly 0.3048 meters in one foot, or exactly 4.184 joules in one calorie. Rounding only affects the displayed digits.
Does it support scientific notation?
Yes. You can type values like 1.2e-3 or 6.022e23 in the input field.
Why are some volume units called fluid ounces?
Fluid ounce is a volume measure, distinct from the weight ounce. Our tool keeps them separate to avoid the most common conversion mistake.
Are US and UK gallons different?
Yes. One US gallon is about 3.785 liters, one UK gallon is about 4.546 liters. Both are listed separately.
Does the converter work offline?
Yes. After the first visit the page is cached, and the math runs entirely in the browser.
