Zodiac Sign Calculator

Find your zodiac sign and a short personality reading from your birth date.

What is it?

A zodiac sign calculator turns your birth date into your Western astrological sign — the constellation the Sun was passing through when you were born. Western astrology divides the year into twelve signs (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces), each ruled by a planet and tied to one of four elements: fire, earth, air or water. Our calculator handles cusp dates carefully — when a birthday sits exactly on the boundary between two signs — and returns a short, readable description of the sign’s element, modality, ruler, traditional symbol and a personality summary you can share with friends. Everything runs in your browser; we never see or store your date.

How to use it

  1. Enter your day, month and year of birth — the year only changes the calculation when you fall on a true cusp.
  2. Pick your hemisphere if you are curious about the Southern equivalent (the dates do not change but the season context does).
  3. Press Calculate. The sign appears with its symbol and element.
  4. Read the short summary to see the traditional traits associated with the sign.
  5. Share the result with a single click or copy a clean text version for your bio.

Why use this tool

Astrology is more popular than ever as a tool for self-reflection and conversation, but most online calculators bury the answer under flashing ads or ask for an email first. Our tool is the opposite: open the page, type your date, see the sign in less than a second. The summary is written by hand, not auto-generated, and stays balanced — we describe traditional strengths and challenges without pretending to predict the future. Use it to send a quick birthday message, decode a friend’s personality, build a character for a novel, or simply learn the basics of Western astrology. Because the calculation runs entirely in the browser, your birth date never travels over the network. The tool is also accessible: keyboard navigation, large readable type, and clear contrast for visually impaired users.

Frequently asked questions

What if I was born on a cusp?

A cusp is the day a sign changes. The calculator uses the exact astronomical boundaries for the current epoch, so a March 20 birthday may be Pisces or Aries depending on the year.

Is this Western or Vedic astrology?

This is Western (tropical) astrology. Vedic (sidereal) signs differ by about 24 days because they account for the precession of the equinoxes.

Can I calculate my Moon sign?

Not from a birth date alone — Moon signs need the time and place of birth. We are working on a separate Moon sign tool.

Do you store my date of birth?

No. The calculation is local and we add no analytics to this widget. Your data never leaves the browser.

Why are some sign dates slightly different across sites?

Different sources round the cusp times differently. Our boundaries follow the standard tropical positions used by most astrologers.
